The purpose of this website is to help you understand how your vehicle operates. It is geared toward those that know very little to nothing about vehicles. The information that you find here will break down how the systems on your vehicle work.
You will not have to suffer through long, boring, technical talk that only engineers can understand. It is written with minimal technical language so that you may communicate effectively with your auto technician and describe and understand the basics of concerns and repairs.
If you spend a little time here I guarantee that you will be able to have an intelligent conversation about vehicles.
Let’s face it we depend on our vehicle for a lot more than transportation. We depend on them to get us to our jobs to earn income, create memories with friends, get the kids to football practice,go out to eat with family. The list is endless. Why not know a little something about the vehicle that makes it all possible?
Most of the cars on the road today are still using systems that have been around for about 100 years. There have been advances in technology that allow these systems to work better however the principles are still the same.
The major systems found on every vehicle are:
- Engine
- Transmission
- Driveline
- Brakes,Steering,and Suspension
- Body and Frame
- Electrical
Understanding these systems will give you a better perspective on how your vehicle operates. You may be able to define for yourself which system may be the concern.
You will learn how an engine works. I know this may seem intimidating but I assure you,it cannot be easier to understand anywhere else on the web. Another topic covered is how to change your engine coolant. You may leave this up to the professionals, but at least you will get a sense of what takes place during a cooling system flush. Some parts of vehicles are made up of other parts. An example of this would be the rear axle.
Do not let the amount of items in a system or component get you discouraged. Read enough about the part as a whole to get an understanding for what it does and where it is located.
It is not always necessary to know how or why something works if you are not diagnosing and repairing the vehicle yourself. Remember the goal is to become more familiar with your vehicle, not know every single little tiny detail about it.
Where to begin?
I have constructed this website so that each article or topic is a stand-alone bit of information. This means that you can read one article at a time based on your time and area of research. Each article will link to other relevant topics related to that subject. Most words that are underlined in the articles link to the definition of that word or words.
If you find something that you can use or want to share you can email or print it directly from the page. No need to cut and paste it into a word processing program. There are no pop ups or ads between you and a hard copy of the article you want to email or print.
Be sure to bookmark this site,so that you may easily return to it to learn more about you car or truck. Just 10 minutes a day on this website will give you information that will empower you when talking about cars.
